1996 – While still working as Jones Edmunds, we were awarded our first FDOT CEI Contract to replace five sets of low-level bridges on US 301 for District Two’s Gainesville Residency office.
1999 – We were awarded FDOT’s initial 5-year “Residency-style” CEI Contract to oversee various types and sizes of construction projects under a single CEI Contract for District Two’s Jacksonville Residency office. Our successful administration of this Contract success not only led to us winning the next two versions of this Contract in 2004 and 2009 but it also led to this style of Contract expanding throughout the state.
1999 – Paynes Prairie I-75 Rest Area – worked with FDOT materials and Dr. Eades from the University of Florida to develop acceptable methodology to stabilized existing plastic soils (clay) with hydrated lime to support the truck and car parking lots and ramps.
2001 – I-95/I-295/SR 9a Interchange – JEACES teamed with PTGcsc to provide CEI services on this $110M interchange project that extended I-295 over US-1 and constructed a new interchange linking I-95, I-295, and SR 9A.
Construction elements included 1M CY of excavation, 1.5M CY of embankment, 181 drainage structures, over 5 miles of storm drain pipe, and asphalt and concrete pavement. The 10 bridges on the project included three high-level segmental box girder bridges, one 63-inch Florida U-Beam bridge carrying Greenland Road over I-95, two 54-inch Florida U-Beam bridges carrying SR 9A over I-95, two 72-inch Bulb-T beam bridges carrying SR 9A over US-1 and the FEC railroad, and two AASHTO Type III Beam bridges carrying I-295 over Julington Creek.
The US-1 section on this Contract was the first FDOT project to use a Performance Related Specification for rigid (concrete) pavement. This Specification identified Acceptance Quality Characteristics for Thickness, Strength, and Initial Profile Index.
2004 – Received Florida Transportation Builders Association’s Best in Construction Award in the Rural Project category for the SR 26 widening project.
2005 – Received Florida Transportation Builders Association’s Best in Construction Award in the Public Awareness category for the Main Street Bridge repair and painting project.
2005 – The Florida First Coast Chapter of the American Concrete Institute designated the SR 9A/I-95/I-295Interchange as a Significant Concrete Structure.
2006 – 2023 – Completed a series of five SR 20 widening projects in Alachua and Putnam Counties totaling $133M.
2006 – City of Gainesville Beautification Board presented The Gold Award for excellence in public open spaces to the JEACES CEI Landscape Team for landscaping of the Interstate 75 at NW 39th Avenue (SR 222) Interchange.
2008 – Received Florida Transportation Builders Association’s Best in Construction Award in the Special Significance category for the Mathews Bridge Steel Grating Replacement project.
2013 – FICE Project of the Year Award, Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) – Mathews Bridge Emergency Repair Project.
2014 – Statewide Best in Construction in the “Partnering” Category, Florida Transportation Builders’ Association (FTBA) – Mathews Bridge Emergency Repair Project.
2014 – Best in Construction Award in the Emergency Work Category (Received by FDOT), Engineering News-Record (ENR) Southeast – Mathews Bridge Emergency Repair Project.
2014 – Grand Prize and People’s Choice Award (Received by FDOT), US Chamber of Commerce Transportation Awards Mathews Bridge Emergency Repair Project. Extraordinary Participation in Professional and Technical Societies, Civic Activities, and Continuing Education.

2018 – Completed the $48M extension of the First Coast Expressway (SR 23) to US 90 which included significant roadway operations, a new weathering steel bridge and three new Florida I-beam bridges. Three bridges span US 90 and the CSX railroad. Geometric improvements included new ramps and a collector-distributor road to eliminate weaving in mainline I-10 traffic.
2019 – Completed the northern leg of the First Coast Expressway in Duval County FL on a $77M Design/Build project consisting of a four-lane limited access roadway with three interchanges (four two-span FIB bridges) and open road gantry tolling with 41 miles of FOC on I-95/I-10.
2022 – ACEC-FL and FDOT presented the Special Project Award to JEACES as the CEI for the SR A1A/San Marco Avenue Intersection Improvement Project located in St. Augustine, FL.
2024 – Received Florida Transportation Builders Association’s Best in Construction Award in the Rural Project Category for the SR 20 Widening and Reconstruction project.
